Well marketing is quite simply understanding who your market is and how to tell them to do business with you. It is not rocket science and doesn’t need complicated and use expensive solutions in the early days. Product placement etc comes later when you can afford such luxuries. Anyone believing they don’t need to market is being short sighted and short term. It can save an awful lot of time and help increase business faster. Those who don’t are usually the ones who most need it.

The early days of developing a business are the most time consuming and expensive but good marketing helps to continually fuel growth, it probably takes up to 7 years to get a company to a point where the financial gearing is interesting to the banks etc. Of course there are businesses that can do it faster but the law of averages says that the first three years are the most challenging and when most people give up. Failure requires more energy than success as success provides a huge energy resource that propels people and business.
